Excellence in Lactation  returns in 2026 bringing together midwives, public health nurses, lactation consultants, breastfeeding counsellors, and GPs for a day of evidence-informed learning, clinical insight, and shared experience.
Hear from four expert speakers across topics spanning birth trauma and breastfeeding, the politics of infant feeding, tongue tie practice, and the realities of supporting families in the early days of motherhood.

Pauline McLoughlin

The interplay of Perinatal Trauma  and Lactation

IBCLC, midwife,  practice nurse, and birth trauma resolution therapist with experience across Ireland, Britain, and Australia. Pauline is in private practice in Sligo since 2012, expanding to include birth trauma therapy in 2023. 

Jean Cousins

From Assistant to Practitioner of Tongue Tie Assessment

Midwife and IBCLC at the Coombe Hospital, Dublin. Jean trained to perform frenotomies and now divides tongue ties in the baby clinic at the Coombe, bringing her experience of the procedure from both sides of the clinical encounter.

The Politics of Breastfeeding 

 IBCLC since 2016, MSc researcher  in low milk supply at UCD, and author of Practical Breastfeeding: An Illustrated Guide for Parents (2025). Lecturer and educator in breastfeeding and lactation across GP training and third-level healthcare courses.

Absolutely. An automated receipt will be emailed upon registration. If you need additional details for reimbursement, we’re happy to provide them.

We are unable to invoice directly, but your confirmation email will include everything needed for reimbursement.

Certificates of attendance will be issued to all participants, detailing session content, learning objectives and CPD hours. This conference is WHO code friendly and suitable for IBCLC’s who need recertifying hours or initial certification. Please contact Nicola if any queries about this. 

Tickets are non-refundable but fully transferable.
