Being a new parent can be an incredibly anxious and stressful time. You’re wanting the very best for your baby and this includes breastfeeding them. But not everything is plain sailing. And when things don’t go right, knowing where to turn for advice that works for you and your family can feel overwhelming.
It’s my mission to help more parents feel confident in the breastfeeding decisions they make so they can feed their babies happily and healthily without feeling they’re doing it wrong.
I use my experience as a mother of 5 children, a former neonatal/paediatric nurse, and an IBCLC lactation consultant with over 30 years of experience in breastfeeding, to provide more realistic support and guidance that focuses on the well-being of the mother and her baby.
Following the birth of my first child, I trained as a breastfeeding counsellor with Cuidiu, a voluntary organisation and became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2005.
As well as teaching parents-to-be about breastfeeding and providing 1:1 support once their baby is born, I train midwives, doctors, public health nurses, doulas, and other lactation consultants and speak at conferences in Ireland and abroad.
